IELTS Speaking Topic-based Sample No. 001: Daily Routine
Daily RoutineTell me about your daily routine. What do you like / dislike about your daily routine? How did you used to spend your days when you were a child? What would you like to change in your daily routine? Are all your days the same? Tell me about your typical weekday and your typical weekend. What is the balance of work/study and free time in your normal day?
Tell me about your daily routine. I get up very early in the morning like 6 a.m. and I wash up my hands and my face. I have breakfast, and then I get dressed and go to work at almost 7. I go to work at 8 and it's actually a long way but I commute every day from home to my workplace. I get to work at 9 and I start work at almost half after 9. It lasts till 5 p.m. I get exhausted. Then, I head to the gym and work out for half an hour. After that, it's time for the French class. After all it's almost 8 p.m. and I arrive home at 9 p.m. Worn out! I eat something, take a shower, go to bed, read some book and get some sleep for 6 hours and it all starts again. Pretty much a hectic one I have.
What I do like about my daily routine is my morning coffee and also the French class in the afternoon. They both charged my morning and evening batteries. And what I hate about my daily routine? It’s actually my working hours! I guess I don't have a work-life balance it means that I worked for too many hours I don't get enough entertainment and rest. In repetition besides hurts me a lot. I wish there were more excitement in my daily routine. But the good news is that I've got my weekends free and I make the most of it.
As a child I used to go to school every day early in the morning and head back home at around noon. The district we lived in was close to a lake I love playing around. I've got some really lovely pictures. My friends and I used to make sand statues at the beach from those days.
Are all your days the same? Um …, yes and no. My weekdays are pretty much the same. My weekends, however, are a pole apart. On my weekdays, my regular is going to work, gym and the French class, and heading back home. I then eat something and get some rest till morning and start the new day. At the weekends, I usually have different adventures. Each time, my friends and I go somewhere special and explore a bit of our spectacular universe.

نمونه موضوعی شماره 002 اسپیکینگ آیلتس: یادگیری زبان انگلیسیIELTS Speaking Topic-based Sample No. 002: Learning English
Learning English
Where did you learn English?
Where did you learn English?
I started learning English when I was very young, roughly 10. I almost went to English classes every day after school because English was important in my family since I was born in Canada and I’m going to emigrate back there; that’s why I started to continue it and my parents sent me somewhere exclusive. There was this great Institute with highly energetic educated motivating teachers that I went to. I always think how influential the place was.
Have you ever lived in an English-speaking country?
Yes, I have. As a matter of fact, I was born in Canada and lived there till I was 5 years old. Then, due to some reasons, the move to Tehran. Is 5 years of one's life, especially the first five years, is very important. I don't remember a lot how it was like to live in Canada. What are you remember very well that's how people spoke English with each other in there. In Quebec, people also talked French, but as I was sent to an Iranian kindergarten, I was just taught Farsi and English.
Why did you learn English?
I was born in Canada and when I was five, and my family immigrated back to Tehran due to some reasons. After the first decade of my life, that I was beginning to understand who I am and what life I have, I made my mind immigrating back to Canada, where I was born. So that was the time that I actually realized how badly I need English. So my parents sent me to this great Institute with highly energetic educated motivating teachers.
Why are you taking the IELTS test?
I was born in Canada and when I was five, and my family immigrated back to Tehran due to some reasons. After the first decade of my life, that I was beginning to understand who I am and what life I have, I made my mind immigrating back to Canada, where I was born. So as I began to go for it, I realize that I need a certificate in English, called the IELTS. It is said that this exam opens doors globally and everyone who wants to continue as education or live or work in an English-speaking country mistaken. I am no exception. Although I have lived in Canada for five years, to go back, I am asked to take it and I also need high band, almost 8.
Why are you studying English?
English is the language the world speaks today. Unless you know English, you can't communicate internationally successfully. And as I majored in commercial engineering, English is a must for me. I've been studying English for approximately two years now, and to tell you the truth, my English has developed greatly.
What skills do you find easiest to learn? Why?
Do you mean in general or specific skills?
General ones.
Alright, I guess I'm pretty good at time management and teamwork. As far as I remember my father used to teach us how to work together with my brothers and sisters. So as the very early skills of life, I almost learned how to be a good member in a teamwork. I also learned how to be a good leader in a teamwork. Besides, a crucial element of every successful business, is time management. So as I consider myself as a prosperous businessman, time management has always meant something special to me. I've studied a lot about it and I've been putting it into practice for approximately indicate. For example, I had this gigantic project finished last month. If I hadn't finished it on time, I would have been punished. Hopefully, I knew how to handle it.
How will improving your English benefit you personally?
Improving your English can benefit you in many ways. Generally speaking, I guess there are three advantages. First, you get to enjoy your life; for example, if you travel abroad and just be able to speak English, you can feel at home, be it a mission or a trip. Besides, you can watch movies, listen to English music, reed scientific and entertaining articles on the internet and elsewhere and overall, you can make the most of it. Furthermore, its benefits in terms of jobs and studies is huge. Aside from Europe, the more professional and scientific the majors become, the more English students’ lessons are. In case one’s English is perfect, they are by far more likely to ace their studies.

نمونه موضوعی شماره 003 اسپیکینگ آیلتس: محل اقامتIELTS Speaking Topic-based Sample No. 003: Accommodation
Accommodation Do you live in a house or a flat?
Would it be easy for you to move to another accommodation?
Do many people in your country live in such accommodation?
Do you live in a house or a flat? My family and I live in a lovely four-story apartment in the city center. The neighborhood is flawless and although it is located in downtown, it’s such a comfort zone for us for the Russian and British embassies are close to us and make the environment attractive. These two embassies also purify the air of the district.
What is your house or apartment like? It’s packed, for starters! And as we still live an extended family, it sometimes gets really difficult to find a cozy corner to get your things done. It's not actually small; the problem is that the number of us. There are four small bedrooms, a tiny kitchen, and a perfect living room. The garden, however, is spacious and we usually spend our time in the garden playing, talking, gardening and even working sometimes. My favorite spot is the living room there are usually read books and magazines, watch TV or listen to the music.
Do you like where you live? What do you dislike about your house or flat? Of course I like it. My neighborhood is pretty calm and soothing, and convenient with a lot of facilities although it is located in the very west part of the city, Tehran, there are enough recreational facilities and shopping centers, cinemas and public transportation systems, etc. what I also love about it is its green and peaceful atmosphere. I’d love to walk in the area and fill my lungs with its freshening air.
Sure I can. It’s actually located in the suburbs of a peaceful green environment. It’s a triplex cottage by the lake with a million-dollar view of the mountains and the jungle in which when you open the window, wind massages your hair. It has an outstanding spectacular scenery you’ll never get tired looking at. It is furnished with the-state-of-the-art devices and furniture, modern and traditional simultaneously.
We moved to our current house almost three years ago, so we’ve been living here since then. It’s much better than the previous one since it’s larger and more modern. I got my own bedroom as well.
Do you like living in a house or a flat? Who loves living in apartments? Of course I like to live in a house but that’s when I can afford it. Besides. I’m a kind of person who would rather live in silence and not a lot of people be around. Others may prefer to live somewhere there are more interactions with people such as neighbors.
Would it be easy for you to move to another accommodation? Definitely not! At the moment, I’m extremely busy with my job and other things. But generally speaking, it’s not easy to leave here for me for I have memories here I don’t want to lose. My apartment is almost half of my life I’m pretty sure it’ll be difficult to move on.
Do many people in your country live in such accommodation? It depends! People who work in cities and populated areas usually live in apartments; other, however, tend to live in houses where it’s not as crowded. I guess living in apartments only happens in mega cities like Tehran, Isfahan, Mashhad, Shiraz, etc. It differs from city to city. Some other ones are underpopulated and people live in houses even close to city centers.

نمونه موضوعی شماره 004 اسپیکینگ آیلتس: شغل/تحصیلاتIELTS Speaking Topic-based Sample No. 004: Job/Studies
Job/Studies
What do you do?
What do you do exactly?
What is your favorite job?
Are there things you would like to change about your work?
Are you thinking of changing your job?
Do/did you go to a State University/private school?
What do you do? What's your occupation or job? I studied aircraft maintenance and graduated from Civil Aviation Technology College 5 years ago and I’ve been working as an aircraft technician ever since then in Mahan Airlines.
I’m self-employed. I have a shop and I work in advertising. We print and publish books, banners, fliers, billboards, etc. my colleague and I have been in this together for the past few years.
Yes, I am. When I got graduated from college, I applied for a job vacancy in Mahan Airlines and sent my resume. The very next day, they contacted me to arrange an interview. I was employed on December, first, 2010 and I’ve been working there since then.
What do you do exactly?
I have three part time jobs: interior designing, teaching and importing stuff. I work on all of them simultaneously. Teaching is my go-to-work-come-back-home job. I teach 8 to 4 on weekdays at a university. Besides, once every two months, I go to countries around to import some devices I sell to my costumers. At times, there are also projects that I accept to design an apartment, coffee shop, etc.
Where do you work? I’m a freelancer, so there’s nowhere special I work in but there are two studios I routinely go to receive the projects and then I work on them at home. Unfortunately, one is located in the east part of my city, and the other lies in the west! I’d better say my workplace is my office at home and I’m pretty comfortable with it. I got everything I need and can see my friends and family any time.
What do you like or dislike about your job? What I hate the most about my job is its working hours. The unsocial hours are killing me these days! You know, I work in a restaurant and I cook different dishes till very late at night. The atmosphere also is very loud and unfriendly. There’s shouting and it’s really warm in the kitchen. I guess I have to change my job! However, there’s something I do like. It’s my job creativity. At times, I create new recipes and once one of them became a big success! I received good money and a lot of encouragement, but it doesn’t happen every day, does it?
What is your favorite job? I like jobs which are full of adventures and puzzles. I mean I’m into dynamic activities that need brainstorming and rational. Jobs like management, authorship, entrepreneurship, teaching, and so on. I am a teacher myself and what I love about it is that it’s not repetitive and boring at all. There’s always something new to do. I need to think how to teach different students based on their type of intelligence.

نمونه موضوعی شماره 005 اسپیکینگ آیلتس: دوستان شماIELTS Speaking Topic-based Sample No. 005: Your Friends
Your Friends
Do you prefer to have one particular friend or a group of friends? [Why?] Are your friends mostly your age or different ages? [Why?] What do you like doing most with your friends? The last time you saw your friends, what did you do together? What makes a friend into a good friend? Do you think it’s important to keep in contact with friends you knew as a child? *Why/Why not?+ Can you tell me about your close friends? In what ways are your friends important to you?
Do you prefer to have one particular friend or a group of friends? [Why?] I guess I'm a kind of person that is quite more comfortable having a few friends and be a member of a small society; I mean I think ultimately, what different friends in a group can do for each other, in terms of helping, asking, and joking to name a few, is much more than what a particular friend can. And together everyone achieves more. Even when a problem is brought up between each two, other friends can interfere to help solve it so they can stay buddies.
Are your friends mostly your age or different ages? [Why?] Mostly my age they are. As nearly all my pals are from college, we are in the same age group. University was where I made a lot of good friends and we all entered there when we were 18. Some of them were from higher grades though, so they’re a little older than me.
What do you like doing most with your friends? I love night outs! One thing that actually kicks me is going out with friends at nights. It doesn’t matter where we go or what we do as long as we’re together. What’s important to me is talking, drinking, and laughing out loud after a long hard working day. That’s how I charge my batteries.
The last time you saw your friends, what did you do together? The other night, two of my friends and I went to the movies. A great comedy was on that made our day. We watched the movie and had some popcorns. After that, we went to a classy restaurants with our wives and we made a pig out of ourselves. I give it 9 out of 10.
What makes a friend into a good friend? To me, it’s all about honesty, respect and maturity. So, no matter who the person is, if I find these characteristics in them, I think they can make good friends.
Do you think it’s important to keep in contact with friends you knew as a child? “Why/Why not?” Well, yes and no. it depends! I believe that we need to edit our friendship list regularly and see what changes we should make. If the person is still worth being with us, we stay friends; otherwise, it is better to remove them. Now, there’s been times that I felt I couldn’t be with an old guy and now we are separated yet there are some very old ones we still keep in touch.
Can you tell me about your close friends? I have two close friends: Nima and Majid. They’re friends from high school and it’s been over twenty years that we’ve kept in touch I guess. Nima is an engineer and works in a construction site. He’s such a handsome person and has a heart of gold. Majid, however, is a doctor and works in a hospital. He’s rather short with blue eyes and long hair. He’s serious and has a sense of humor.
I have different buddies that are important to me in different ways. For example, friends from work help me in terms of my job. And friends I have from childhood usually talk about their lives, share experiences and we try to support each other.

Which part of your country do most people live in?
Tell me about the main industries there.

Has your country changed much since you were a child?
Tell me about the most important festival or celebration in your country. What would you suggest a visitor to see and do in your country? Tell me about a kind of foreign visitors or tourists who go to your country?
Which part of your country do most people live in?
In my country, mega cities are more crowded, just like anywhere else in the world. These cities include the capital Tehran, Shiraz, Isfahan and Tabriz to name a few.
Tell me about the main industries there.
Tehran and Isfahan are the chief textile-producing centers. Other major industries are sugar refining, food processing, and the production of petrochemicals, cement and other building materials, and machinery. Iron and steel and fertilizer are also produced.
How easy is it to travel around your country?
If you have a personal car and a valid driving license, it is pretty easy since the roads go all around Iran. There’s also bus and rail-way services with different stations with or without tours. Besides, air travel is available if you are in a hurry or don’t enjoy road journeys.
Has your country changed much since you were a child?
Quite a lot! My father says things used to be done much harder but today, thanks to technology, nearly everything is done faster and easier. Take transportation for example. People used old slow buses or taxis and they needed to walk to some places. Today, subway stations are all around the cities and other transportation vehicles have also developed fully.
Tell me about the most important festival or celebration in your country.
I can say that Nowruz is the festival that stands out among the other ones in Iran. It’s the first week of the New Year and people celebrate it by taking journeys and paying their folks a visit. We drink, eat, party and have fun. It’s totally refreshing and there are specific activities done. The TV and radio also play national music and programs.
Tourists can experience a-year’s-four seasons in my country. From north to south, the climate changes dramatically and they can spend their time wherever they wish. Besides, there are plenty of attractive historical places such as Pasargad, the tomb of Cyrus the Great. Entertaining services are also found in every corner.
Tourists in my country are generally people who are into history and archeological places. Almost every day, I see people from Europe, the US, and other countries who come to see the history of Great Persia up close.
