Write about the following topic:

Cultural tourism, where people travel in order to visit museums, monuments and archaeological sites among other things, is a growing industry. Having so many visitors may sometimes benefit a nation’s cultural heritage, but can also cause problems. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

You should write at least 250 words.

SAMPLE1.

With inexpensive flight fares in today's society, people can easily travel to various places around the world. The more they travel, the more they want to know about other countries' cultures. There are advantages and disadvantages though. This essay will focus on why cultural tourism can benefit nations' cultural heritage and at the same time can also be problematic.

First of all, tourism is a big profit center. When travelling, most people spend more than they usually do at home. This can lead to major improvements of local businesses which can in turn help maintain cultural heritage including archaeological sites financially since these are the main attractions to tourists. Moreover, when a nation's cultural heritage sites get more recognized internationally, there will be more support to protect and maintain them including both local and international.

On the contrary, big influxes of tourists can cause serious environmental problems. Without strict regulations, tourists normally pay very little attention to the importance of the conservation of environment where they travel. For example, Thailand as one of the most famous tourist destinations is suffering heavy air pollution due to the significant increases in the number of road vehicles. As a matter of fact, such a problem can only be handled properly when governments seriously take into account balancing tourism development and its sustainability.

All things considered, it is clear that cultural heritage can be benefited from the development of cultural tourism. However, people should also take great precautions against all potential problems caused by the development.

Every year, millions of people travel to other countries for vacations spending billions of dollars. Tourists like to visit museums, monuments and archaeological. It is because the tourists can really understand the cultural heritage in the country.

With the amazing development in transportations, everyone get fly easily. The cheap air ticket brings happiness to many people. Visitors can enjoy their journey in a low price. This cause many people travelling nowadays. As proverb goes “: every coin has its two sides,” cultural tourism brings benefits and weaknesses to the nation’s cultural heritage. In my part, I will say that the advantages are more impact to the countries than the weaknesses.

First of all, I absolutely agree with the statement. Having many visitors can bring benefits and also can cause some problem. Cultural tourism let the visitors understand the local culture and know how to respect the local people and places. Next, tourism can develop country economy. It creates many jobs to the local labours and available the work in hotels, restaurants, travel businesses, taxis, entertainment center resorts and others. Furthermore, tourism can lead to better environment. The government dedicates to reduce environment pollution.

On the other hand, many visitors also cause some problems. If too many visitors visit a place will cause traffic jam. Others, people working as waiters or cleaners do not receive a high salaries. However, the most important is that visitors can lead to problems such as alcohol or prostitution.

In conclusion, governments represent an important role. Because governments can reduce the problems cause from tourism. In my opinion, visitors should enjoy their travelling and visiting a new place, but they should give the full respect to the local people and places.

SAMPLE3.

Every year, heritage attracts million of people to travel to other countries for vacations. Tourist like to visit museums, monuments, and archeological. They usually spend a lot of sums of money just to see and learn new culture. However, they may cause some problems during their journey. In my opinion, I disagree with this view or in the other word, I can say, the advantages of culture tourism is greater than disadvantages for many reasons.

First of all, many countries are relying on tourism as a major source of national income such as Lebanon, Malaysia, Morocco and Turkey. Thus, Culture tourism contributes and creates many job opportunities of job seeker.

In addition, Culture tourism let the tourist to recognize our civilization, local values and the manner of dealing with others .The last report released form united nation indicated that people who usually visit Al-Janadriyah festival in Saudi Arabia have changed their Ideas about Arabian as a terrorist after September 11 2001 attacks.

On the other hand, some people may argue that tourist has drawbacks as everything in our life. The proverb said (every coins have two-sides) is the best example to cite in this situation. They think that cultural tourist has a fundamental role at spreading of an illegal drug trade, an illegal immigration and prostitution. I perceive this kind of argument is largely true, however, as a result of diversities of behavioral and educational background of visitors, that could happen and we cannot judge or prevent just for minor group of people.

In short, government can dedicate to reduce the downsides of cultural tourism and visitors should enjoy their journey with full respect of local rule in the hospitable country.
