Write about the following topic:

Some people believe the aim of university education is to help graduates get better jobs. Others believe there are much wider benefits of university education for both individuals and society. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.

You should write at least 250 words.

SAMPLE1.

University education plays a vital role in today’s society. It not only helps people have better career opportunities but also gives them a better understanding about their surroundings. This knowledge in turn helps them with their own personal lives and the society. This essay will prove that university education not only helps to get better jobs but also is beneficial for individuals and society.

Firstly, university education attributes to the success of a person’s career. For instance, a high achieving student in Mathematics can easily apply for a job as an instructor in the same field. Depending on his education level and experience, he can get a job in a high school or a university which usually is only available to a Master degree holder or higher. The reason for this high success rate lies in the belief that university students not only have to work hard to graduate from their courses but also have to prove their capability in problem solving and the understanding of the subjects.

Secondly, the benefits of university education are not for both individuals and society. The people with high education levels tend to give more respects to others and the society as a whole. They are hard working and the knowledge they earned gives them a better chance to improve their surroundings’ conditions which also entails the conditions of the society where they live.

All things considered, it is fair to say that university education not only gives people better jobs but also is beneficial for both individuals and society.

In these days there are different opinions about the objective of university education. There is the opinion of people who think that university means better jobs. On the other hand, there are some who believes that undergraduate or postgraduate study is also good for society.

Firstly, there are current resources that confirm that studying a degree will help people to improve in their future career. That means that if you go to university, you will have a better job. For example, students graduated on medicine will be able to work as a doctor. However, others without this qualification could not do this job. In addition, as higher are your studies, companies will considerate you with more and better capacities to develop any work.

In contrast, there are people who also think that as more students achieve a bachelor, society will become more developed. If a group of people have high studies, it is to suppose that they will have more and better knowledge. That means that future workers will overcome any difficulty with more analysis. As an example, we can see on countries that their governments are reducing the investment on education. These countries are expecting more difficulty to eliminate the current economic crisis. We can prove it with examples like Spain or Italy.

In conclusion, we can view how people think about the benefits of studying or not in the university. I think that a basic objective or a degree is to get a better career, however there are also many good point`s societies in general. In the future, countries with more students at university will become more developed.
