Write about the following topic:
In many countries children are engaged in different kinds of paid work. Some people regard this as completely wrong, while others consider it a valuable work experience, important for learning and taking responsibility. What is your opinion?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
You should write at least 250 words.
SAMPLE1.
Gaining work experience is critical in today’s society. Moreover, it helps individuals develop their characteristics and social relationships. Hence, it is important for children to participate in any types of paid work. The only problem with this approach is that children can be easily exploited or they can lose track of their studies which are way more important to them. This essay gives a personal viewpoint on how paid work affects children’s development.
Firstly, paid work gives children real life work experience and helps them develop their characteristics. For example, children will have to learn punctuality is important and being responsible for any given jobs is necessary when they work for other people. They also have to learn to take care of themselves and how to coordinate with their friends at work.
However, they can be easily exploited if not looked after carefully. They have to be given special attention to by their families and governments when working outside. It is very important to make sure that they can maintain a good balance between work and study. This only happens when governments enforce strict policies on the total working hours for children and their work rights. Also, parents have to educate their children on how important their studies are and to make sure their children pay enough attention and efforts to that.
All things considered, it is clear that children should be given the rights to work in more professional environments. At the same time, they have to be well protected from exploitation so that they can maintain a balance between work and study.
