Write about the following topic:

Some people believe that children’s leisure activities must be educational otherwise they are a complete waste of time. Do you agree or disagree? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your experience.

SAMPLE1.

Nowadays parents are concerned about their children’s leisure activities more than ever. Some parents believe on educational leisure activities and spend lots of money to send their children to different extra curriculum classes and in other hand some parents give full liberty to their children about their spare times. Now the question is what is the best way for children to spend their leisure time? In following I will discuss this issue in detail.

First of all, about the idea of giving freedom to children about how to spend their leisure time, there might be some people who believe it would be a good idea to let children decide how they want to spend their spare time, but I totally disagree, and the reason is, we all know that children are not able to distinguish what is good for them and what is bad for them and as far as they concerned they only want to play and enjoy. Therefore, giving freedom to children about their leisure time is not a constructive idea.

However, having educational leisure activities is a good alternative. Parents can supervise their children’s spare times, they can figure out what their children like most and what are their interests, through those interest they can plan their children’s leisure activities so they can have fun and get educated simultaneously. For instance, when I was a child my parents had sent me to a Football school, so I spent lots of my leisure times learning Football, and the reason was that my parents knew that I loved physical activities.

In conclusion, I personally believe on educational leisure activities for children but it is important to not put extra pressure on children and make sure they enjoy while they have educational leisure activities.

SAMPLE2.

In my country, many activities are done by people like sports, indoor and outdoor games and co-curricular activity which relate to the educational or other organization. Many people think that children have to play educational activity in a leisure time however others are view that educational activity does not more important than other activity. In this essay, I shall discuss both side of the argument and give my opinion.

Most parent's and teacher's opinion that children should spend their leisure time in only educational activities as they believe this activity help children to develop their mind and to secure their future. I think that it is very good for their career.

However, it is important that children also spend their spare times in activities those are non educational such as sports and other extra co-curricular activity. First, in this activity children develop not only physical health but also to develop certain qualities like team work and co-ordination. Second, the children come out from the educational work although they also know about the society and environmental in addition to improve their interpersonal relations which are very important at a present time so it is very helpful to the children.

It is certainly true that at a present time parents have to know about the benefit of the both activity therefore they develop their children physical and mental health to make their social group and also know about the environment problem as they have to become a guide for their children.

SAMPLE3.

Today, education has become a priority for many parents seeking to secure a good future for their children in this rapidly changing world. They believe that if their children apply themselves and work hard at school, then they will increase their opportunities for going to higher education and eventually getting a good job. Of course they are right, and as access to the best education and best jobs is becoming more competitive, then it is true that children have to make the best of their study time when they are young.

However, the parents who do not allow their children sufficient free time for leisure activities outside school hours are misguided. Such activities are far from being a waste of time for the children simply because they are not academic. It is important to remember that children need to develop skills other than intellectual ones, and the best way to do this is through activities such as sports, games and playing with other kids. If they cannot play make-believe games, how can they develop their imagination? How can they learn physical co-ordination or learn important social lessons about winning and losing if they do not practice any sports? Many children form strong, personal relationships with the friends they play with, and without the opportunity to do this, they could grow up emotionally immature or unformed.

Finally, I think it is also important to remember that children need to relax as well as work. If everything they do must have some educational or academic relevance, then they will soon get tired of studying altogether, which is the last thing parents would want.
